Branding Consultant
Norman CHAN Yiu-fuk
Creative Director, OnBrand
Just as onefifteen is constantly challenging itself, Norman believes that new horizons are an ongoing exploration.
Speaking about his collaboration with Taipei and the new YMS by onefifteen project, Norman says he has a deep affection for Yangmingshan. Since 1997, he has had a strong affinity for the streets of Taipei, but he never imagined that there would be such a sacred place on Yangmingshan. He was touched by the tranquility of the land and its rich history, and admired how onefifteen was so meticulous in building a "good life experience," which prompted them to keep digging into the story behind the land and exploring more possibilities for the brand.

Interpreting time and space, defining the present. For me, YMS is not a design problem, but a positioning problem.Ā Ā
"Once the positioning is right and the direction and concept are established, all the details and contents will follow naturally. I didn't intentionally "design" the case, but rather guided it to develop into what it needed to be. The special background of the site naturally prompted me to awaken the MCM." Speaking of YMS by onefifteen's historic building reuse project, Alex, the design director, is relaxed, but clearly reveals the core of his design. Behind this calmness comes his deep understanding of history and his precise grasp of time and space.

The plantings and environment that grew out of Yangmingshan's own natural surroundings were able to reshape Mid Century's style and atmosphere.
It is a new challenge for both architectural design and landscape design! In the past, the U.S. military dormitory was an American-style house with big trees and turf with a community atmosphere, but now YMS by onefifteen will break the past state of a single household with a single door, each door is no longer a single, but a complete garden with different functional buildings, like a whole process of physical and mental spiritual healing. YMS by onefifteen is a quiet garden in Yangmingshan that integrates food, living and tranquility.

Yangmingshan is a mysterious place to me, where all the noisy city troubles can be released!
YMS is the first commercial space in Taiwan to utilize a full set of Herman Miller and Knoll furniture. I hope that the customers who come here can feel the story of the era that we want to convey, and even if they are not familiar with Herman Miller or Eames, they can still be infected by this atmosphere, and introducing the classic aesthetics to a wider range of people, which is an achievement for me. every detail of YMS has gone through a lot of careful discussions and selections. This is no longer just a case of furniture configuration. I hope that every guest who stays at YMS can feel the American style era that we are trying to recreate.

Tea opens up the five senses to experience the delicacy and elegance of the "good life".
For Angela, tea is not a supporting role in her daily life, but rather a "life partner" that leads her to a deeper connection with nature. She laughs, "From the time she was a child, the money for milk powder, school fees and my job were all given to me by tea. When the aroma of tea meets the mountain breeze, the senses quietly open up. In Yangmingshan, this old friend has taken on a new look - in the space of YMS by onefifteen, tea has become a soulful link between the seasons and meals, artifacts and landscapes, and a reminder to slow down and treat the "good life" as an exercise - in delicate flavors. -To realize the nature in the delicate flavors, and to feel oneself in the elegant atmosphere.
Ceramic Artist
I-Fang Tsai
With pottery, the four seasons and the temperature of life in Yangmingshan are implanted.
Originally from Yilan, Taiwan, ceramicist Yi-Fang Tsai's life and creations have always been closely connected to the land. Her works are not perfect at first glance, full of clay texture and uneven colors, but they exude a unique handfeel that allows her to feel the warmth of the vessels even in a cool room. Her childhood memories are always accompanied by painting and reading, which is how she talks to herself. After the ups and downs of her life, she went back to her father's studio and learned the art of pottery step by step, starting from the simplest painting and trimming, and in 2015 she had her first exhibition, and in 2020 she set up her own studio. She often says that it is a rare fortune in her life to be able to embrace a forgotten passion after 30 years of age, and to be able to make a stable living as a professional. This unique arrogance and modesty makes her laugh and say that she is just a "potter".Ā

With "thoughtfulness" as the first heart, we brew the prototype of a better life in the dialogue between materials and nature.
Between the mist, the soil and the aroma of tea in Yangmingshan, art and life are closely intertwined. For goldsmith Su Jianlin, "thoughtfulness" is the first step in creation. From goldsmithing, ceramics, floral art to calligraphy, he uses different materials as his vocabulary to start a dialogue with nature, making his works not only objects but also a gentle attitude towards life.
