In Yangmingshan, north of Taipei, geothermal heat and fog are intertwined for years, and the mountain mist undulates like breathing.
It constitutes a field of movement between the visible and the invisible.
From June to October 2026, the exhibition "Seeing the Mountains" was held at YMS byonefifteen, which attempted to bring the natural rhythms of this mountainous region into focus.
Translated into an art project about life style and perceptual experience.
This is not just an exhibition to watch, but a kind of "entering" - into the mountains, into the human body.It is also about the time and the sense of touch that everyday objects carry.
This exhibition is based on the theme of "Natural Generation and Body Perception".
Linking up drinking water, coffee, tea ceremony, sculpture and living objects, different creative vocabularies permeate each other in the context of mountains.
Let's take a slow, deep breath and start to feel the different faces of the mountains.
The atmosphere of the exhibition is presented in a way that is closer to the possibility of a "life proposal".
-- Amidst the mist and wind of Yangmingshan, rethinking the relationship between man and nature, between artifacts and the body.
YMS by onefifteen advocates a lifestyle that unfolds in such a slow and detailed manner:
Through a tea vessel, a cloth mat and a piece of thread, it brings perception back to the present moment.
Let life be a continuous art.

In the Yangmingshan Mountain in the north of Taipei, geothermal heat and fog are intertwined for many years, and the mountain mist rises and falls like breathing, forming a fluid field between the visible and the invisible.

YMS by onefifteen's style of living is based on such slowness and details: through a tea vessel, a cloth mat and a piece of line, it allows perception to return to the present moment, and life to become a continuous art.

Between 1950 and 1975, American art underwent a visible transformation under the influence of Eastern thought: calligraphic abstraction, Zen-inflected conceptualism, Taoist infused minimalism, and collaborations between Asian and American artists all reflect a rich and pluralistic terrain of cross-cultural resonance. This period has since been the subject of critical scholarship and institutional retrospectives—most notably The Third Mind: American Artists Contemplate Asia, 1860–1989, a landmark 2009 exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum in New York.
YMS by onefifteen is situated within the H-2 district of the Yangmingshan U.S. Military Housing Complex. This historic architectural ensemble, constructed between the 1950s and 1960s, once served as a U.S. military residential area deeply influenced by the American lifestyle of that era. Continuing this cultural lineage, the space has been reinterpreted and reshaped based on the spirit of Mid-Century Modern (MCM).Classic MCM elements—iconic furniture designs, patterns, and ornamentation—are translated through contemporary art and lighting design, creating an atmosphere that is both nostalgic and innovative, paying homage to the design philosophy of that era.
"Spring Seat" is an exhibition of selections from life. We use "home" as our imagination and transform the entire space into a spring gathering in the mountains. When you walk in, what you see is not just a simple display of products, but a complete scene of life - a table, smells and textiles intertwined with each other, so that daily life is no longer just daily life, but a period of time that can be properly felt.
