Wilderness Aesthetics: Mid-Century Style Tranquility Garden<\/b><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\"I came to Earth in my life to experience the world and all that nature has to offer, and this has been my perspective since I was a child,\" he says. Landscape designer Wu Shuyuan recalls that in his childhood, living on the edge of the city, he was surrounded by nature, and the wilderness and ponds were his playground. His parents often took him to the mountains, but every time he went down the mountain, he always felt a sense of loss, on the one hand because his vacation was over, and on the other hand because he was far away from the mountains and forests. Landscape designer Wu Shuyuan admits that his feelings for nature seem to come naturally to him, and this is why he has planted the idea of taking landscape design as his career, and he has no choice but to bring his longing for the wilderness and nature into play in his works, and to bring about rich values and impacts.<\/p>

During his eight years of study and work in the UK, Wu Shu Yuan gained a very different perspective: \"In the past, landscape design in Taiwan was almost non-existent, just a gap between buildings. Even professional landscape designers had difficulty finding their place in the industry. My experience in the UK has opened my eyes, from urban space, residential green space to public parks, in participating in the design of public buildings and cross-border experience, landscape design is not only a profession, but also an art of transforming life. He brings back the concept of \"bringing the city back to nature\" and believes that only through public construction can the government subconsciously enhance the public's concept of aesthetics, so that landscape can become a part of the city and aesthetics can become a part of daily life. \"After returning to Taiwan, I have been actively involved in public construction projects, and this is a deliberate choice on my part.\" From the Taipei Fine Arts Museum, Chiayi Art Museum, Taichung World Flower Expo, to Songtan's \"More Than a Library\" bathhouse garden, the Taiwan Contemporary Culture Laboratory (Air Force General Administration of the People's Republic of China C-LAB), the Taoyuan Yongan Fishing Harbor Conch, and the Hengshan Calligraphy Art Museum, Wu Shue-yuan has utilized all of these public spaces to advocate a \"wilderness aesthetics\" and to showcase the natural beauty of Taiwan's native plants.<\/p>

Landscape designer Wu Shu-yuan is not new to Yangmingshan, the famous Yangmingshan United States Army Club and Caf\u00e9 Merci Rishan are all from his hands, he skillfully utilizes plants and landscapes to create a unique visual mood of the space. His representative works include the Taichung Flower Expo planting project, Taipei's \"Western District Gateway Project\" Sanjing Warehouse Historical Building Landscape Design, Taipei Fine Arts Museum Misty Garden, Yokoyama Calligraphy Museum, Chiayi Fine Arts Museum, and so on.... Each piece of work reveals Wu's unique design style. Talking about his relationship with Yangmingshan, he does not hesitate to say, \"I fell in love with the sunshine, air and plants here at the beginning, and after working on so many cases, I found a quiet place of my own here. After completing a number of designs in Yangmingshan, Wu Shuyuan even created his own \"wilderness home\".<\/p>

After the Taichung Flower Expo, he met Alex Moh, the architectural designer of YMS by onefifteen, and the two have worked together many times in the process that the experience of the other side of the aesthetic qualities are in line with each other's expectations, when the YMS by onefifteen case was first set up, Wu Shu-yuan joined the pre-programming; when Alex proposed to revive the old U.S. Army dormitory in a Mid-Century style, Wu Shu-yuan This is not only an architectural challenge, but also how to incorporate Mid-Century style into the natural environment. In the past, the U.S. military dormitories were American-style houses with big trees and sod with a community atmosphere, but now YMS by onefifteen is going to break the single-door, single-family state of the past, and each door is no longer a single, but a complete garden of different functional buildings, which is like a complete physical and spiritual healing process. YMS by onefifteen is a quiet garden in Yangmingshan that integrates food, living and tranquility.<\/p>\n

In the landscape design of YMS by onefifteen, Wu Shu-yuan follows the long-standing philosophy of using a large number of Taiwan's native species, especially those endemic to Yangmingshan, such as Plum Leaf Winter Ching, Duck's Feet Begonia, Taiwan Mountain Chrysanthemum, Taiwan Marjoram, etc., and preserving the centuries-old banyan tree, as well as allowing the entire garden to be surrounded by small and medium-sized plants and flowers, with a smooth and accessible pathway connecting the nature and the architecture. YMS by onefifteen reinvents Mid-Centry Modern by breaking down the boundaries and allowing every corner to be mobile and free in this natural and poetic forest wilderness, turning the original ordinary residential colony into a place where the mind, body and soul can relax and settle down in Taipei's most tranquil and treasured forest space.<\/p>\n

With a Master's degree in Landscape Architecture from the AA Architectural Association and many years of experience working in London, as well as more than 10 years of solid foundation in landscape design and planting in Taiwan, Wu Shu Yuan's conception of landscape design is far more than a designer's deep visual and sensory cognition. \"I am against blindly following cases and worshipping the masters, as that would only lead to being trapped in the established framework.\" Only by experiencing the changing seasons, rain and shine of the environment can one create truly touching works. He does not only design, but also plant and experience the feeling, in the sense that he interacts with the plants and trees, he often imagines that he is a customer, and thinks about what they will get from such an environment.<\/p>\n
